THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I was an NRA member but canceled my membership after Pres.Obama was elected. LaPierre spent his time scaring members about The black boogeyman coming to take their guns...even though the Brady Assoc. gave President Obama a "D"...(Pres.Bush gt a "C")

These are great links. I always feel just a tinge of guilt and some hypocrisy about guns, since we own guns, but I am strongly in favor of gun control. Why do we have to take drivers instruction, be licensed, and carry insurance for our vehicles, but not guns? Seems insane. The NRA is sold a marketing lobby for gun profiteers, not really interested in civil liberties, freedom, or the safety of our people and children.

Ok, The dude...what do you mean about a license for first amendment?...frankly, we have very little real freedom to speak our minds. Yeah, we can blow off steam on social media, but speak out at work? Conduct a protest on the sidewalk? You'll discover the extent of our non freedom.
I have a license to operate my car. My dentist has a license to drill in my mouth. My doctor is licensed to show certain credentials and some public assurance. You got a problem with licensing or insuring guns?

In my estimation we must be all about human freedom, when I see the links above I see communism which along with the facists is the opposite of personal freedom.
From what I know of history matters not if you're talking about the Soviets, China, Cuba or the rest, They all get the guns first before stripping you of every right you hold dear. In fact you have no personal rights or freedom under those regimes.
Screw that, I'll fight every single one of them to keep ALL of our rights.
If this forum claims to be supporting communists or facists that's the extremes of either the right and left... What that isn't is moderate on any level. As a Libertarian, I am strongly in support of personal freedom that enables us to be personally "prepared"... Those extremes take the property of the people and make it all the property of the government and is then (normally) dolled out as specified by those in charge to their cronies, but it's NEVER based on the effort you put into it, so whether you work hard or don't you get the same thing. This eliminates MOTIVATION of the people which is why this kind of government ALLWAYS FAILS!
If y'all support this, I'm out... Only a moron would agree to that in my view.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Hi Allie, Yes, I have a problem with insuring guns. Your dr. and dentist are both operating a business in contract with govt. under laws of commerce....local...state federal...etc BUSINESSES are NOT people. Second, when you accepted employment with your employer you entered into an agreement or contract either verbal or written. You agreed to waive certain rights the employer has demanded in order to receive compensation. Dont like the employers requirements? Either renegociate or dont enter into the agreement. So. Let me see if I have this correct. Since the 1st ammendment is being infringed upon, and i agree it is, your solution is to also destroy the second ammendment with it? Allie! If your house is on fire would you solve it by lighting your garage on fire too?

The key to understanding freedom is the knowledge of positive liberties and negative liberties.
An example of positive liberties is the 13th 14th and 15th amendments. Although the constitution guarantees individual freedom and every person, federal troops often had to enforce it and protect freed slaves.
An example of negative liberties is the 1st amendment. Speaking your mind requires no intervention to do.
Some freedoms are positive liberties and require enforcement.
Freedom of speech does not necessarily require enforcement(but more and more...government "permits" are required to speak free...in public.)
I live in California...where draconian 2A laws were signed in by the Governor on july 3, 2016...and then he boarded a plane and left the country...for a month. These laws do not apply to two groups of people: 1.) Law Enforcement 2.) Legislators
Basically...the ruling elite and their soldiers.
This...is how freedom dies.

Positive liberties and negetive liberties? never heard of such. Could you please elaborate on this? Also where do these terms come from? In my mind all liberties are positive. Draconian indeed. Feinstein and her ilk discust me. They wittle away your rights to self preservation....only to surround themselves with armed guards. Through their actions the are litteraly implying the citizens they pretend to serve are in fact beneath them.

You wrote: The NRA.....rich, old, white people? Any responsible gun owner is a welcome member. When I was a member I was neither rich...nor old....Does anyone find it necassary to identify the color of my skin? I do not.
Having a skin color that doesnt bear defining is quite the "privilege". Enjoy that. Not everyone gets to drink from that well.

i don't have a problem with licensing guns, cars. Both can kill. Ok both used by humans can kill, my gun in the corner has not killed a thing, but i could with it and some ammo. I think gun usage, safety, cleaning and care should be a required subject in high school. I learned to drive in high school. But I'm weird I think gardening should be taught from 3 grade to 9th grade. Boys and girls should take shop, car repair and home ed too in junior and high school. Lots of prepping and survival skills should be taught. In high school they said I had to learn golf of all the stupid things. Now archery was great, I loved that, useful. Yes, I cut class during golf. Taking our guns, ha but schooling and license is reasonable. You need a frigging license to fish. It may help to find the psychopaths. Do I like it, no, but in this crazed society it is needed. Not everybody is reasonable. And don't get me started on how black people are treated in this sick society. Or disabled, or autistic, or elderly, or homeless or children. Go clean your gun and leave allie alone.
