Hi all. I am a working class person who has also seen this country deteriorate from the prosperity that I grew up expecting, to see our ..yes, we dare say it ... Fascist state of existence. The other day I was talking with my mom (who sadly, is a fundamentalist conservative) about how they worked hard back then, when she made a statement, they did not pay interest on home loans back then. Now think about that. We are most caught up in the merry go round of debt to survive. This has been planned by the 1% to keep up enslaved in servitude, as the while they have been busy destroying the New Deal that brought about the middle class that is now all but disappeared.
I recently retired, not well off as my parents were and are, but no longer able to cope with the hostile and abusive toxic work environment. I want to learn as much as possible about getting back to a more frugal, less consumptive, natural way of living. There are many of us, not as many as there should be, but people are waking up. Alas, similar to our list leader here, I too feel that it is going to take a much drastic, severely deprived occurrence for the majority of distracted, uninformed and misinformed to realize the actual danger we now face in loss of freedoms, ability to seek happiness and peace, damage to health through environmental degradation and pollution, and our crumbling infrastructure and the ability of the shell of government that is left after continued conservative deliberate destruction and underfunding to provide for public goods, especially in a state of emergency.
I am female, married, with two grown daughters, a dog, and cat. I currently garden, by container, ground, and aquaponics, love to cook, sew, and repurpose things.
I wish to learn more about water collection and purification, organic gardening and living. With that, I will mention something which I most recently stumbled across. That is, garbage enzymes. A professor in Thailand has devised this method that also helps reduce greenhouse gasses! Reuses garbage, and provides hundreds of uses for the final enzyme fermented product. I will look up link to share (I downloaded the brochure and info into my iBooks so I can share this, but it is great. I have three containers, will be ready for use beginning inJanuary. I also grow Moringa trees, and compost as well as Okibashi. Reuse, repair, repurpose!
